This was supposed to be the fight where Vasyl Lomachenko got tested by a proven technical boxer.
Lomachenko took on Cuba's Guillermo Rigondeaux in a dream matchup for hardcore fans. Lomachenko and Rigondeaux both had dominant amateur careers, which include 2 Olympic gold medals each. WBA 122 lbs champion Rigondeaux agreed to move up to 130 lbs to fight Lomachenko in a fight televised on ESPN and BoxNation.
The win improves the 29 year-old Lomachenko's professional record to 10-1, 8 KO's. This was the 4th straight fight that Lomachenko dominated his opponent to the point where the opponent quit between rounds.
The fight scored good ratings on ESPN, making it the second highest rating boxing telecast in 2017.
