Kovalev was a wrecking machine up until last November when he lost to Andre Ward by a controversial decision, and then last the rematch in June in a fight where Kovalev said he was hurt with a low blow that the referee didn't see.
With the win over Shabranskyy, the 34 year-old Kovalev improves his record to 31-2-1, 27 KO's. In addition, Kovalev picks up the WBO and IBA world light heavyweight titles.
