Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo earned a unanimous decision victory in a tough 12-round brawl against Japanese fighter Shota Hayashi in the main event of Pinoy Pride 43 from Tagbilaran City, Philippines on Saturday.
In the end, the judges saw Magsayo as the more active fighter and awarded him a unanimous decision victory. The 22 year-old Magsayo remains undefeated at 18-0 and will likely keep his #2 ranking at featherweight (126 lbs) by the World Boxing Organization (WBO). This win now puts him in the position to possibly face reigning WBO featherweight Oscar Valdez.
"Prince" Albert Pagara (29-1, 20 KOs) earned an early stoppage over Tanzanian Mohammed Kambuluta (16-4, 6 KOs) 2:26 into the second round of the co-main event. From the opening bell, Kambulata seemed hesitant to exchange as he back peddled around the ring. Pagara eventually cornered Kambuluta and dropped him with a right hand and then finished him with another right hand to the head.
The 23 year-old Pagara is currently ranked #11 by the WBO in the featherweight division.
