Two time Olympic gold medalist, Claressa "T-Rex" Shields (5-0, 2 KO's) successfully defended her WBC and IBF world super middleweight title by defeating veteran Tori Nelson (17-1-3). The fight took place at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York and was televised on Showtime's "Sho-Box, Next Generation" television series.
It was another dominating performance for Shields who won every round on all 3 judges scorecard.
The 22 year-old Shields is the best women's boxing prospect in years. Her combination of boxing skills and natural athletic ability make her almost invincible.
The one person who could match Shields in size and athleticism is Germany's Christina Hammer (22-0, 10 KO's). Hammer recently signed with Salito Promotions, who also represents Shields and the two boxers have been pushing for a fight in 2018.
