Young Mexican boxing stars Oscar Valdez and Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez survived tough tests on ESPN to retain their individual titles.
Oscar Valdez defended his WBO featherweight (126 lbs) title against little known Filipino boxer Genesis Servania in the main event of a card that took place in Tucson, Arizona, which has become Valdez's adopted hometown. Valdez started out well out boxing Servania for the first 3 rounds, but Valdez let his defense get lazy in the 4th round and paid the price by getting dropped by a right hand from Servania. Valdez survived the 4th round, then came back like a true champion does by dropping Servania in the 5th round to regain control of the fight. It was a back and forth battle for the rest of the fight, and in the end, it was Valdez who picked up the unanimous decision win to retain his WBO title.
